When we moved in, our dining room was awash in gaudy gold and beige wallpaper, decorative trim, over-the-top drapes and valances all topped off with a drop ceiling of acoustic tile. I can't even imagine how much was spent on it.
We finally got our hands on the dining room in the Spring of 2007. We took down all the hideousness, re-plastered the walls and ceiling, painted, put up new lighting and just this January had the floors redone and the floor trim put back up. (How is that for procrastination?)

It's definitely an eclectic bunch of stuff...old, new, vintage, modern, hand-me-downs, handmade pieces, treasured artwork and the like. As with any room in this house, it's a work in progress. But for now, it is a wonderfully light-filled space perfect for entertaining.
